ANDREA TADDEI
Andrea Taddei is an artist whose forms of creativity are multiple. Between the 70s and the 80s he dedicated his research to furniture design, painting and comics, creating a symbiotic relationship between the roaring New York of those years and the art-historical background of his hometown, Florence.
His work strongly reflects this cultural binomial and elaborates many artistic stimuli in an enlightened and brilliant manner, not without a subtle irony. Taddei’s favorite elements look only apparently incompatible, and are borrowed from the two cities inspiring the artist.
The selected works from Art Delivery, freehand drawings related to the comic book genre, enclose this double connotation in a paradigmatic way: their attention to the pure line, to the academic and aware drawing and their predilection for an aesthetics which is apparently strict and rigorous, reveal indeed both human figures and faces often looking bizarre, lewd, laughable but also meditative and dramatic.
